Versatile PC/104 communication solution - TCB1000

Tri-M's TCB1000 series is a new and innovative communication board. This high density design integrates CANbus controllers, serial ports, and wired/wireless functionality into a single board solution. The TCB1000 significantly reduces the size, weight, and cost of embedded solutions while increasing performance and functionality for M2M, Telematics, and data logging applications.

Incorporating dual isolated CANbus controllers, two MultiTech compatible universal sockets, four isolated RS-232 serial ports, and one isolated RS-485 serial port the TCB1000 is truly a versatile, all-in-one communication solution. The UNIO96/48-5 are 96/48-channel digital I/O PC/104 add-on cards. The cards deal with the TTL-level signals and can be used to interface with opto-isolated modules racks, displays, LED-devices. The card provides a wide range of functions – counting, sequencing, timing diagrams generation, pulse width modulation, code conversion etc.
The module uses FPGA chips for signal processing. It supports in-system programming, which allows to change the control logic algorithm without turning power off. Software examples are available in C, description files of basic and custom circuit programming variants are available on the CD supplied with the card.

Tomcat (VL-EPM-16)

Driven by a DMP Vortex86DX processor, the Tomcat runs at 800 MHz. The 32-bit CPU integrates memory and I/O controller hub functions to provide an x86-compatible single-chip solution with ultra-low power consumption.

Tomcat’s standard on-board features include Fast Ethernet, up to 512 MB soldered-on DDR2 RAM, two USB 2.0 ports, four serial ports, IDE and LPT interfaces, a CompactFlash socket for removable flash storage, and two general purpose timers. The PC/104-Plus platform provides plug-in access to industry standard expansion modules. Support for keyboard and mouse is provided via USB or PS/2.

Available in both commercial (0° to +70°C) and industrial (-40° to +85°C) temperature versions; the Tomcat provides fanless operation and meets MIL-STD-202G specifications for shock and vibration. Transient voltage suppression (TVS) devices on critical I/O ports provide enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for the system.

The Tomcat is compatible with a variety of x86 operating systems including Windows, Windows Embedded, Linux, VxWorks, and QNX.

Ultra Capacitor Power Solution - TUP1000

The TUP1000 is a Small Form Factor DC-DC converter using ultra capacitors
versus batteries to provide seamless UPS backup capabilities. This high performance power supply can produce 35 watts @ +5VDC or 42 Watts @ +12VDC.

The PC/104 footprint design supports many low power embedded systems requiring short-term power during a power loss.

The TUP1000 has a fully programmable power output of +4.5VDC to +12.6VDC – its rugged design includes transient suppression and locking terminal mating plugs.

Rugged PC/104 and EBX Enclosure * VersaTainer (VT104)

The VersaTainer (VT104) is a rugged PC/104 and EBX enclosure systems constructed of .125° aluminum and designed for hostile and mobile environments. It features a dual system of shock and vibration isolation which comprises of internal rubber corner rails absorb high-frequency vibrations, while the entire enclosure is mounted on the host platform with a thick rubber pad which absorbs low-frequency G-forces. The rubber pad may be removed for optional mounting solutions such as hard mounting, flange endcap, or fluidic mount assembly.

The VersaTainer is capable of housing PC/104 and EBX payloads. For PC/104, the stack mounts axially along the entire length of the enclosure body. For EBX, An optional EBX mounting plate (VT-EBX) is available to mount the SBC to be horizontally with ample room for several PC/104 accessory cards to be installed. Accessory modules such as hard drives larger than 3.550" x 3.775" can be mounted to an optional septum plate that installs vertically into rails that run the length of the enclosure. For smaller items, an optional PC/104-size aluminum plate allows for direct mounting in the PC/104 stack.

The VersaTainer cross section measures 7.10" wide by 5.70" high (not including mounting pad) and is available in standard lengths from 4" to 12" and custom lengths up to 48". Each VersaTainer is available as a kit complete with endcaps and mounting accessories. Additional blank and pre-designed endcaps are available from stock. For customer designed faceplates, a downloadable DWG file is available at www.tri-m.com. The VersaTainer and its standard accessories are RoHS compliant.

The Ruby-MM-1616A PC/104 modules provide up to 16 channels of 16-bit resolution analog voltage or current output. Each channel's output range can be individually programmed for 0-5V, 0-10V, +/-5V, +/-10V, 0-20mA, 4-20mA, or 0-24mA. Outputs may be updated individually or simultaneously, either with a software command or in response to a timer or an external signal. A waveform generator is available on up to 16 channels with simultaneous updating of all channels.
The board also includes 48 lines of digital I/O with 40 lines byte-wide and 8 lines bit-wide, two 32-bit counter/timers, four 24-bit pulse width modulators, and HART signal handling on four analog channels.
Ruby-MM-1616A utilizes the latest advances in D/A technology, including ultra-stable references and lifetime digital calibration, for superior long-term reliability. The dual-architecture FPGA supports both PC/104 and PC/104-Plus configurations.
All Ruby-MM-1616A models ship with Diamond's free Universal Driver software for C language programming under Windows 7, Windows Embedded 7, Windows XP, Linux and DOS. All major functions of the board are supported by the driver and example programs are also included.
Extended temperature capability of -40ºC to +85ºC enables the board to operate in environments with extreme temperature swings, such as vehicles or outdoor installations. In addition, the board may be custom-configured with 0-ohm resistors in place of jumpers for increased ruggedness in high-vibration environments.

To mount boards or items such as hard drives that are larger than 3.550" x 3.775", there is an optional septum plate. These install vertically into rails that run the length of the enclosure. For smaller items, an optional PC/104-size aluminum plate allows for direct mounting in the PC/104 stack. Each CanTainer is available as a kit complete with endcaps and mounting accessories. Additional blank and pre-designed endcaps are available, or the customer may design their own cutouts using a downloadable DWG file.
