M-Max 400 RC is a highly reliable compact rugged computer for building all-electric interlocking distributed systems. The system is designed for converting CAN‑interface control signals (twisted pair or single-mode fiber) into relay control signals of railroad automation systems.

The M-Max 400 RC uses ‘2 out of 2’ architecture for higher reliability of control signals. Two autonomous identical computers inside the M-Max 400 RC are connected by internal interfaces. External relays are connected to control outputs in a way to get an AND circuit in signal control.

Each computer has an independent power input and an internal uninterruptible power supply (UPS) based on ultracapacitors, ensuring up to 40 seconds of operation with the input power cut off. Depending on configuration the system allows to maintain 12 or 24 paired relays.

Main features (per each subsystem):

  • 12x or 24x relay outputs (24V, 132 mA, 2kVrms Isolation, each output is conducted by 2 controlled keys, power load from internal UPS, output short circuit control)
  • 2х CAN interfaces, ISO 11898, Isolated, up to 1 Mbps or FO connector Type: ST (single-mode) fiber ports, Transmission Distance: Max 20 km (1 Mbps)
  • 1x 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet
  • VGA video output
  • 2 x USB2.0
  • 1х RS-232/422/485 Isolated
  • Power: +12 to +30 V DC (non-isolated), AC adapter ~100 to 240 V (optional)
  • Power consumption: (whole system) 80 W
  • Enclosure: Aluminum enclosure, passive (fanless) cooling system
  • Mechanical (W x H x L) (whole system): 355 x 162 x 279 mm (without end caps and connectors)
  • Operating Temperature: -40 to +70 °C. Complies with MIL-STD-810G (High temp. method 501.5, Low temp. method 502.5, Procedure I, II)
  • Humidity: Operating: 5 to 95 % at +25 °C, non-condensing
  • Vibration: operating acceleration amplitude up to 6g (3–500 Hz) Complies with MIL-STD-810G (Method 514.6, Procedure I, Category 14)
  • Shock: maximum peak shock acceleration up to 40g (11 ms) Complies with MIL-STD-810G (Method 516.6, Procedure I)
  • Dust/Moisture: IP65
